ACTIVITIES & ENRICHMENT
Our Activities & Enrichment program provides structured classes and activities for our clients that prepare them for life upon graduating Pacific Lodge. Our goal is to broaden each client's perspective through exposure to new and interesting experiences. Each resident is encouraged to participate in multiple activities including sports, art therapy and campus employment.
Educational Assistance
Many of our boys arrive at Pacific Lodge with seriously deficient skills in reading and math, sometimes three to six grade levels behind their peers. As a supplement to the classes they attend at our on-campus accredited high school, Pacific Lodge has a Rotary Learning Center where students receive additional help. Utilizing ten computer workstations, students practice math skills with our Kaplan Math Program software or receive one-on-one tutoring in any subject. Our Book Club engages volunteers to read aloud to our boys to pique their interest in reading and help them develop critical skills necessary to improve literacy levels. If you are interested in signing up to become a tutor, please contact info@plys.org.
Work Experience Program (WEP)
The Work Experience Program (WEP) is an on-site job training and employment program that operates like a real work place. While the boys are working to understand themselves and the world around them, the WEP equips them with job-related skills and experiences that might otherwise be unattainable to this unique population. Career counseling, resume and interview courses, and self-advocacy training are vital components in both our work program and in the treatment process. For more information on how you can support the Work Experience Program, contact info@plys.org.
